I've written poetry since I was 11 (7 years ago). It is my hope that I have improved since then. A lot of what I write is meant to be used in a lyrical way, but I write strict poetry, also. I'm a buffet of words, so to speak.

Kicking Down Doors

There's nothing to say
And I wish there was
This silence hurts
Makes our rift so obvious
I like to pretend
That things are fine
That I see you
That I'm not blind

To the truth we just bury
Under the floor
In the backyard
Way down in dirt

But truth has a way
Of making love real
All the false hopes
That cloud our ideals
And truth has a way
Of kicking down doors
We shut for a reason
So they'll be ignored

There's nothing to say
That we haven't uttered
No more cliches
To add to the clutter
Words cannot heal
All by themselves
Wounds don't appear
Without some help

But we say we are strong
Strong enough without you
Strong enough to fix
These things we've torn in two

But truth has a way
Of making love real
All the false hopes
That cloud our ideals
And truth has a way
Of kicking down doors
We close for a reason
So they'll be ignored

And I've been saying "we"
But really it's just me
Who cannot seem to see
When love is strong and free

Your truth has a way
Of making love real
All the false hopes
That cloud our ideals
And truth has a way
Of kicking down doors
We shut for a reason
So they'll be ignored
